In 2022 Clare County Council tackled several longstanding and high environmental impact cases. A Wastewater treatment facility operating without a Licence (currently with the courts for Hearing) and a Waste Tyres site (Stockpile of waste tyres – removal after prosecution).

WATER – Pressures from Agriculture (slurry/soiled water collection and storage)
20 inspections in 2022 of farmyards to assess slurry/FYM/soiled water collection and storage facilities. Compliance with the GAP Regulations can be considered high, with 80% of inspected farmyards deemed compliant.




Septic Tanks
Clare County Council inspected 53 Domestic Wastewater Treatment Systems (DWWTS) during 2022. This represents a 130% increase in the number of inspections completed in 2021.
