The reason for this determination is as follows:
• Landfill leachate is being generated within the site and there is a risk of its migration into the
underlying sand & gravel aquifer.
• The Environmental Risk Assessment states that the groundwater flow direction beneath the
site is to the south/ south-west towards the River Barrow. Hence, there is a hydrological
connection between the closed landfill and the River Barrow and River Nore SAC (site code:
002162).
